Bonnier Broadcasting to start Production Company with Anna Carrfors Bråkenhielm

Bonnier Broadcasting, together with Anna Carrfors Bråkenhielm, has decided to start a new TV production and program rights company: Scandinavian Studios. The company will develop, produce and exploit TV program format rights in cooperation with Bonnier’s TV channels. Carrfors Bråkenhielm will serve as CEO.

On July 1, Anna Carrfors Bråkenhielm will become CEO of Scandinavian Studios. The company will develop, produce and utilize TV format rights and create added value and business around TV program concepts, for the Nordic and international markets.

"It's an exciting challenge to work within Bonnier Broadcasting to create a new content company with a base in Sweden and with a lot of room to play on the international market," says Carrfors Bråkenhielm. "Most of the production companies in Sweden are owned today by big international players and these days, almost all of the big media companies in the world who have their own TV channels also have their own production companies. With some of Europe's leading TV channels within the group, I believe we can be a strong player both in Sweden and internationally."

Jan Scherman, the departing CEO of the TV4 Group and the incoming vice president for Bonnier Broadcasting, will be chairman of the board for Scandinavian Studios.

"Competition for the best TV format rights is only getting stronger,” says Scherman. “In order to succeed with audiences and create new business, it has become ever more important to develop, exploit and build new program format rights. That Bonnier Broadcasting now is starting its own company in this arena is eminently important. And the connection to the TV4 Group is a big advantage."

Torsten Larsson, CEO of Bonnier Broadcasting and chairman of the board for TV4 AB, will also be a member of the board for Scandinavian Studios.

Carrfors Bråkenhielm was most recently at the TV production company Silverback, which she started in 2006 and sold to England's biggest commercial TV company, ITV plc, in 2008. Between 1996 and 2005, she was CEO for Strix Television, owned by MTG. She also started the business magazine Passion for Business.
